Sponsorship James Monroe Wire & Cable sponsors the annual Play Fore Playmakers charity golf tournament at Sterling National Country Club in Sterling, MA, USA. This year’s event raised US$29,000 for the Life is Good Kids Foundation (formerly known as the Life is Good Playmakers). This money was raised from golf registrations, donations, a live auction, hole sponsorships and corporate sponsorships. This brings the five-year total for the event to an impressive US$122,000. “I take my hat off to those players and sponsors who support the event year after year. I know their commitment to the cause is greatly appreciated and Steve Gross and his staff make it a point to go around during lunch and thank everyone in attendance,” says David Fisher, President/CEO of James Monroe Wire & Cable. Hand-written notes are also sent out to all sponsors after the tournament. With Help From a Pro The action on the Sterling National Country Club golf course featured the talents of professional long ball hitter, Michael Watson, from Charity Golf International, who would hit for each foursome on a par 5. Michael’s longest ball in competition is 427 yards. Also, an air cannon was available for use to shoot a golf ball up to 300 yards for closest-to-the-pin prizes. On September 29, 2017, David Fisher and tournament directors Jay Munsey and Penny Munsey presented a check in the amount of US$29,000 to the Life is Good Kids Foundation at the Sterling National Country Club. “The more I get to know the people at Life is Good Kids Foundation, the more I am impressed with their commitment, effort, enthusiasm and positive approach to insuring children in distress get the attention they need,” said Fisher. “We at James Monroe look forward to sponsoring/supporting the efforts of the Life is Good Kids Foundation next year.” THE LIFE IS GOOD PLAYMAKERS The Primary Initiative of the Kids Foundation The term “Playmaker” comes from sports and refers to someone who makes good things happen when their team needs them most. Simply put, a Life is Good Playmaker is someone who spreads the power of optimism to children who desperately need it. Through the Life is Good Playmaker Initiative, the Life is Good Kids Foundation supports the men and women who dedicate their careers to helping children heal from the devastating impact of early childhood trauma. We provide a continuum of personal and professional development resources that help childcare professionals tap into the power of optimism and build healing, life-changing relationships with children in their care. Our initiative is based on the belief that in order to better care for the most vulnerable children, we must better support those who care for them. To date we have offered retreats and ongoing support to over 5000 professionals—including teachers, social workers, counselors, child life specialists and other youth workers. content.lifeisgood.com About James Monroe Wire & Cable: James Monroe Wire & Cable Corporation is a privately held company with over 35 years experience in the manufacture of electronic and electrical wire and cable products.
