It’s an exciting time to be a part of the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ family – a family that I am honored and humbled to represent. As CAFNR dean, I look forward with excitement and anticipation to working with our strong faculty, staff, students and stakeholders to advance Missouri through our shared land-grant mission. One of the real gems within CAFNR is our network of Agricultural Research Centers, which extend our college’s research and Extension efforts to more than 14,000 acres to meet the needs of agricultural producers and natural resource managers. These 14 Centers not only continue CAFNR’s dedication to the research and Extension missions, they also provide a vital link to regional communities through field days, education days, Extension activities and community events. The CAFNR Research Centers are portal farms to the people our programs serve, hosting more than 35,000 people each year. I welcome you all to take a closer look at our CAFNR Research Centers through this magazine. The stories in this publication highlight the diversity of our work, as our Centers are unique in the research and Extension projects they conduct, due to a variety of factors, including climate, soil type, and other specific needs. Not only do our Centers focus on meeting the regional needs across Missouri, but they also combine their efforts on numerous projects that extend the MU mission to benefit communities and allied organizations in our great state.
