GEICO’s regional office in Fredericksburg is one of those companies. GEICO associates were recently recognized for having a minimum of 20 years of service with the insur-ance company. Some had as much as 45 years of service. “This type of tenure in this day and age speaks volumes about this company and the people who work and live here,” said John Izzo, GEICO’s regional vice president. “If you talk to anyone of those associates, they all have found something special they enjoy about working at GEICO and living in Fredericksburg to remain here for so many years.” According to a 2010 report from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median number of years that wage and salary workers stay with their current employer is 4.4 years. The company also recently purchased more than 2,100 square feet of space in the Parkway Medical Plaza in Cos-ner’s Corner, 4701 Spotsylvania Pkwy. The space will be used to relocate an existing facility currently in the Shops at Lee’s Hill and will allow service to Access’ expanding patient base in southern Spotsylvania County. The shell space was purchased from Parkway Medical, LLC and will be developed by Hart construction for an estimated total project cost of more than $716,320. Up to 10 employees will work at the Parkway Medical location. Finally, when the expansion of the Route 3 office is com-plete, Access Eye Centers will begin renovating its original site at 110 Cambridge St. in Falmouth. Originally the Falmouth Fire House, the U.S. 1 office’s 6,500 square foot facility will be renovated to include more clinical space, a more modern façade and room for additional services. Approximately 35 employees work at that location. Access Eye Centers also has new, state-of-the-art offices on U.S. 1 in Aquia Park in North Stafford and on Route 3/ Kings Highway in King George, which opened in March and July, 2010. Access Eye Centers is expanding or renovating three of its five locations in the coming months. These develop-ments will allow the region’s largest comprehensive eye care practice to expand and provide additional services to their existing and future patients. The practice is owned by Arash Mansouri, MD, Medi-cal and Surgical Director.
