The Chamber is Chatting About... The Appoquinimink School District proudly welcomes Matthew Burrows as their new Superintendent. Bayhealth Inc. congratulates President Dennis Klima on his retirement following 31 years of service. He developed a $13-mil-lion community hospital into a $400-million regional health system and shepherded downstate Delaware’s largest health care organization into a new era. And, he helped ensure that many generations of future Delawareans will continue receiving the best possible care during their most difficult hour. Nina Carter, BSN, RN , is the latest winner of the Bayhealth – Kent General Hospital DAISY Awards. Each quarter, Bayhealth recognizes nursing team members who have demonstrated clinical excellence, compassion, and outstanding patient service. DAISY Award winners are also selected for their use of evidence-based practice, mentoring, and demonstration of the core values of nursing. Each DAISY Award winner receives a certificate, a DAISY Award pin and a unique hand-carved Shona stone sculpture entitled “A Healer’s Touch.” Bayhealth Medical Center nurses are earning recognition from the Delaware Nurses Association and Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders. During recent awards ceremonies at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, ten Bayhealth nurses were finalists and three Bayhealth nurses earned a Delaware Excellence in Nursing Practice Award. The award recognizes nursing professionals who consistently promote, excel and bring a positive approach to their area of practice. Donna Bryant , Administrative Assistant, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in General Studies at Wilmington University this May. She will begin her Master of Science in Information Systems Technology in the fall, while simultaneously completing her Associate Degree in Early Care and Education. Donna is one of five indispensable support staff members at Cover & Rossiter and has been with the firm since 2004. Charity Miller has joined the Cover & Rossiter team as a Staff Accountant. Ms. Miller graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in History and a minor in Black American Studies. For the past year she has worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Revenue Audit Unit for the City of Wilmington. She will begin school in the fall to obtain her Associate Degree in Business Administration. She is a welcome addition to the firm. The Girl Scouts of the USA announced today that the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay has been selected as a STEM Advocacy Champion. GSUSA’s Public Policy and Advocacy Office in Washington, DC, bestowed the honor upon only 17 of the 113 Girl Scout Councils nationwide in recognition of their leadership in science, technology, engi-neering and mathematics. The award honors superior chiropractic clinics that excel in patient treatment, customer service and professionalism. Susan Marley was promoted to Senior Staff Accountant at Cover & Rossiter . Mrs. Marley worked as an intern with the firm while attending college and started full time in October 2009.
