SPE CIAL AD VER TISING SE CTION WOMEN IN BUSINESS l 2011 Linda M. Schlossberg Owner/President New England Medical Supply, Inc I entered the professional world of banking in 1979. The 1980s were an unsettling time for women in key positions. I was employed by Old Colony Bank in Providence, assigned to the specialized fi eld of Secondary Marketing. There really was a “glass ceiling.” However, I had the distinction of becoming Old Colony’s fi rst woman Vice President until January 1989 when Old Colony ceased to exist. In May 1989 my late husband, Bernard Schlossberg, RPh, and I formed two Rhode Island Corporations; Nepco Drug Company and New England Medical Supply. When Nepco Drug of North Providence closed in October 1994, New England Medical relocated to the Hospital District of Providence. Sadly, Bernard passed away in 2000. For twenty-two years New England Medical has continued to be responsive and customer oriented. We are a 100 percent woman-owned certifi ed business, serving private and group medical practices, twenty-four hour urgent care centers, city and town fire/rescue companies and we proudly provide our Armed Forces with their day-to-day supplies. We are a distributor of OTCs, pharmaceuticals, disposable paper products, gloves, syringes and bandages just to name a few. Personal achievements include: National Association of Professional Women’s “Woman of the Year” 2010-2011; member Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and Ambassador – Susan G. Komen for the Cure. New England Medical holds an A+ rating with the BBB and a Platinum Listing with D&B. 365 Eddy Street Providence, RI 02903 phone: 800-322-5887 or 401-831-8030 fax: 401-831-8032 email: linda@nemed.com web: www.nemed.com 100 RHODE ISLAND MONTHLY l FOCUS ON BUSINESS
