Besides exposure to pollution, many toxins are inhaled, absorbed and ingested from ev-eryday products such as detergents, fabric softeners, pesticides, plastics, Styrofoam, food additives, body care products, air fresheners, diesel fumes, particle board, carpeting, paints, adhesives, vinyl, dry cleaning fluid, flame retardants, Teflon, and fragrances, most of which are derived from petroleum. These are my beliefs: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is similar to huffing, where chemicals offgassed from toxic products, when inhaled, damage brain cells and displace oxygen, causing suf-focation. Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder occur when children’s developing immune systems pass a toxic threshold of exposure and can no longer detoxify, causing brain damage in different degrees, depending on exposure types and intensi-ties. Chemicals accumulate in the body causing damage to brain cells resulting in diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. I presented my theories, along with studies that I‘ve collected in the past eleven years, that give credence to my beliefs, to some prominent local doctors, in the hope that they and the hospitals where they work will investigate my theories by testing patients for the presence of toxic chemicals. I believe that this is the key to preventing and treating many illnesses. My hope is to spread awareness of the link between chemicals and disease, encourage research into this area and to try to enact laws that would ensure that products that people use everyday do not contain harmful ingredients. Unlike the United States, the European Union already bans many chemicals known to be toxic.
