Troop Planned Fundraiser to Help Pay for Philmont Trip Boy Scout Troop 123 of Newton was at Newton Car Show the first weekend in May, running a concession stand to help raise funds for a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, next summer. For 12 days, troop members will hike along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at the ranch, which has been called the Boy Scouts of America’s “premier high adventure camp.” Cost for the trip is $1,200 per individual and to help with those efforts the scouts sold hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, chips, drinks and popcorn at the car show on Saturday.
