The Trail Guide Summer 2017 : Page 3

FROM YOUR COuncil Leadership Quivira Scouters, I am thrilled to be your new Scout Executive! In the past six weeks, I have visited our camps several times, stopped by some unit meetings, attended District Committee meetings and witnessed a new Eagle Scout requesting to be a 1961 Society member. This is truly a wonderful Boy Scout Council with quality volunteers and an unparalleled program to match! I look forward to meeting all of you at The Quivira Scout Ranch & Camp Kanza this summer. The next several months will be very exciting planning for our Council Centennial. Take time now to plan how your District and your units will mark this once in a lifetime Celebration and please share your plans with me and the rest of our staff. It is a wonderful time to be in Scouting! Finally, I would like to recognize Warren McCoskey, VP of Properties on our Board of Directors, for convincing his siblings to honor their father on his 86th birthday with a James E. West Fellowship award. Mr. Robert McCoskey is a long-time Scouter and a Silver Beaver (1977). This honor will help Scouting’s next generation of families and secure the future of the Scouting movement. For more information on becoming a James E. West donor or honoring someone with this award please contact myself or Richard Longstaff at We will be highlighting all NEW James E. West honorees in the next issue of the Trail Guide. All the best wishes for a memorable, safe and Adventurous Scouting summer. Don’t forget to do a Good Turn Daily along the path! Yours in Scouting, Robert McCoskey James E. West Honoree Brian J.
