NeW ASSOCIATe MINISTer OF MuSIC & WOrSHIP Nicholas Costello BrINGS HArMONy TO MuSIC & WOrSHIP’S MeLODy Weekly news at first Baptist dallas i february 28–March 6, 2010 Coming Soon Week FOUR Pray each element of the capital campaign will energize the church for the future God has planned. Those involved in the Music & Worship Ministry at First Baptist Dallas know that each Sunday they’re a part of something bigger than themselves. Nicholas Costello, new associate minister of Music & Worship, only brings harmony to this idea, counting it his calling, “as a leader and teacher, to equip worshippers to experience God, develop their talent, and be a part of something larger than individual accomplishment.” “In the months leading to Nicholas joining our ministry team, I have come to appreciate the depth of his musical and leadership capabilities,” Minister of Music & Worship Dr. Doran Bugg said. “I believe his most endearing quality, however, is his desire to help disciples of Christ gain an eternal connection to God through worship and the cultivation of their musical abilities. His dedication to excellence, combined with 15 years of ministry effectiveness, distinguished him from other candidates. The diversity of his capabilities will make Nicholas a catalytic addition to the music ministry team God has already assembled at First Dallas.” Nicholas spent the last six years at Houston’s Metropolitan Baptist Church as pastor of music arts. Prior to that, he served at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Houston, and churches in Arkansas and Louisiana. He brings with him his wife, Melissa, and children, Kerrington (9) and Landon (4). “I believe God is posturing the ministries and influence of First Dallas to build generations of more and better worshippers,” Nicholas said. “More because a courageous body of believers with full faith is creating space and facilities to support God’s work, and better, because as we are being transformed more into the image of Christ, He increases our capacity to understand and experience His work of grace in our lives. Our family looks forward to joining our lives with yours to be a part of an extraordinary future.” Pray… …that God would touch the heart of every church member, showing each person how he or she should participate in our capital campaign. …for your fellow church members, that they will accept the Pastor’s challenge to prayerfully consider using 10 percent of their net worth as a starting place for their sacrificial gift. …that each church member will listen to the Holy Spirit as He leads, and that we all would understand the importance of “equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.” …that through our sacrificial gifts, we reach our goal of raising $130 million to build our new campus. …specifcally for these special capital campaign events: • Advanced Leadership Dinners, March • Church-Wide Prayer & Praise Service with Pastor Jim Cymbala, March 3 • 30 Days Of Prayer, April • Women’s Prayer & Praise Service, April 7 • Commitment Sunday, May 2 February 28 NEW AND NEWLY-UPDATED SINGLES’ CLASSES Hope & Help for Single Moms A new 24-week study in the Single Moms Class, led by Erica Horton, Sundays at 10:50am in CC507.
