SPECIAL ADVER TISING SECTION RESOURCE FOUNDATION A DECADE OF GROWTH 2010—THE FOUNDATION MOVES its operation from North Providence to Pawtucket. 2011—THE HOPE BUS , a thirty-eight-foot recreational vehicle, takes to the road and brings the same programs, services and education offered at the founda-tion’s center to businesses, schools, hospitals and community centers, with an emphasis on underserved communities. 2012—THE YOUNG SURVIVORS program is introduced. It is a program designed by young survivors for young survivors and their unique needs. 2013—THE FOUNDATION PARTNERS with Rhode Island Kitchen and Bath and begins an interactive cooking class for survivors and their families with a focus on healthy eating. A men’s group is also established to provide support to male partners of patients and survivors through informal gatherings centered on ‘guy’ activities. A local nonprofit has joined the ranks of these Rhode Island familiars: the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Founda-tion. In a little more than a decade, this local body has evolved into an organization that has helped thousands of people affected by breast cancer. What started out in early 2004 as a one-stop-shop website for cancer-related re-sources has grown into an organization that provides awareness, education and support throughout the state, adding important pro-grams and services based on the needs of the people it serves. This timeline shows consistent growth of the foundation with the addition of new programs to promote wellness and survivorship: 2008—THE RESOURCE CENTER opens in North Providence, and support groups and healing programs are initiated.
