The Index of Iowa Laws provides city officials with an alphabetical, topical listing of Code of Iowa citations relevant to local government policy and operations. This web-based member service includes hyperlinks into the state’s online code repository. The state’s online code is updated an-nually, but the Index itself is updated regularly as additional topics are added. The state’s online code includes laws current as of 2014; an update that includes laws passed during the 2015 Legislative Session is expected to occur in October. This gap, and the complexity of laws in general, make it import-ant to continue to consult with your city attorney. The Index can provide you with the law but not interpret exactly how it fits your particular situation. The Index can be found in the Member Resources drop down menu on the League Web site and is available to all members who have set up access to the League’s Web site.
