Recently, the popular local eatery expanded its Oil Center café at 1103 W. Pinhook Rd., doubling seating capacity to 140. In the new section, Zeus added a beautiful, cozy bar for drinking and dining, and two tents for parties and gatherings. “This is part of the authenticity of the Arabic and Mediterranean culture,” ex- plains owner Nidal Balbeisi, who hails from Palestine. “You can get food anywhere. What we are trying to deliver is not just the food, it’s the full dining experience – the food, the service, the customs – we are trying to get as close as we can to the overseas experience.” F On the South side of town, Zeus’ location at 3809 Ambas- sador Caffery added more tents to meet customer demand. The large tents can accommodate 20 to 25 people, while the smaller ones hold 10 to 15. Both the Pinhook and Am- bassador restaurants feature live entertainment with belly dancing on Fridays and Saturdays. “Kids love to see the bellydancers,” Balbeisi says. “But, it also fun entertainment for our group -- the grown- ups,” adds Rick Qawami with Zeus’ corporate office. “It is the ideal place for parties because of the way the tents are set up. It’s an experience they won’t forget.” Zeus Express locations at 4100 Johnston St., 1315 Camellia Blvd., special advertising feature 2733 W. Pinhook Rd. and 271 E. There’s also a lively café downtown at 431 Jefferson St. for full-service lunches and dinners. “We stay on top of it,” Qawami says. “We are always taking on new challenges and new changes.” Balbeisi credits Zeus’ success to his customers. “We are grateful for the people of Acadiana, because without them, we could never, ever be who we are,” he says. 1103 W.
