G By Carol Ann Donnelly reek philosopher Plato once said, “Wise men speak because they have some-thing to say; fools because they have to say something.” This couldn’t be truer, especially when peo-ple insist on adding their two cents regarding an issue like what a person should do if he/ she tests positive for the BRCA gene mutation. Last year when actress Angelina Jolie an-nounced she had prophylactic mastectomies as a result of testing positive for the BRCA gene mutation, everyone seemed to have an opinion on whether or not she should have had the surgery. She wrote an op-ed piece on May 14, 2013, for the New York Times ex-plaining her decision. It was entitled, “My Medical Choice.” That sums it up. It was her choice.
