Any amount will be gladly accepted. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office Pipes and Drums was invited to attend the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, Scotland where Scottish forces defeated the English Army in their attempt to gain independence of Scotland from English rule. We are one of only three pipe bands from the USA that will be participating in this event. The band receives no financial support from any government agency, including the Sheriff's Office, or from any taxpayer money. All funds are raised by band members, their spouses, families, a few business supporters and grants. Over the past year and a half, we have been able to raise less than half of the $33,000 needed to cover airfare and lodging for the trip to Scotland leaving us about $18,000 short. Personal expenses such as food, tours etc. will be paid by each individual. Our band will represent all residents of Clay County and Northeast Florida. We are asking for your help and financial support of any amount. All donations are tax deductible and most humbly appreciated. Please make your check payable to CCSOPD and mail it to Clay County Sheriff's Office Pipes and Drums, 178 Simmons Trail, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 Thank you for your consideration. 13*/5*/(t$01:*/(t(3"1)*$4 50 recipients shared $65,000 in awards at the Paul E. Reinhold Community Service Award Ceremony at the Thrasher Horne Center 2014 Celebrate Clay Awards Presented at Thrasher Horne Nick Thompson Staff Writer What can be better than having a wonderful 8 AM breakfast on a beautiful sunny morning in Orange Park's Thrasher Horne Center and sharing it with over 150 people? How about when 50 of them receive awards totaling $65,000? That is precisely what happened on Wednesday, April 30th as the Paul E. and Klare N. Reinhold Foundation held it's 6th annual "Celebrate Clay" community service awards breakfast. Fifty awards ranging from $500 to $10,000 were distributed to non-profit groups which provided distinguished services within Clay County. The panel of five judges was made up of three community volunteers and two members from the Reinhold Foundation. The five members who decided how the $65,000 would be distributed were: Martina Kohler, Town Manager of Penney Farms (retired); Darin C. Roark, Administrator, Baptist Clay Medical Campus and Emergency Service Line; R. Patrick Hayle, President and CEO, Mercy Support Services; and the two members of the Reinhold Foundation, Annie Bryan and Peggie Bryan. This years top award, the "Paul E. Reinhold Community Service Award" was presented to The Way Free Medical Clinic. Accepting the award, and the $10,000 prize, was Jeannie Gallina of Orange Park. Ms. Gallina is the Founder and Developing Director of the clinic. Other top awards included the "Judges' Choice Program Awards", two awards worth $5,000 each which were handed out to PET Florida of Penney Farms, and Project REACH Kids Program of Clay County School District. Equally impressive was the "Extraordinary Executive Director Award", also a $5,000 prize. This years recipient was Darren Dailey of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus. Mr. Dailey said his, "motive is to provide high quality choral music education to children of diverse backgrounds." The last $5,000 prize was the "Peggy Bryan Volunteer of the Year Award" which was bestowed on Wayne ("Scotty") Scott for the Clay County Habitat for Humanity. "Scotty" could not attend the awards ceremony for personal reasons, so Caroline Edwards, Executive Director Clay County Habitat, accepted the award on his behalf.
