Q A For Your Skinformation. I have a lot of fi ne, crepey lines on my face. I’ve been told that I really ought to have a strong laser treatment or chemical peel to improve this, but what’s stopping me is that I cannot go to work with a red, peeling face. Is there any type of treatment where I wouldn’t look so bad afterwards? Q A The one thing that I would really love to change about my face is the smile lines that seem to get deeper by the day. They really drag my face down and make me look droopy. How do you treat this? Yes, you may be a good candidate for a type of laser treatment called “non-ablative resurfacing,” which treats your skin texture without disturbing the skin surface. What this means is that it improves your wrinkles, but with no time off of work required. We are using the brand new FDA-cleared Lumenis PhotoFractional™ laser to simultaneously address skin texture, tone and minimal-to-no down time. All of our patients agree on the smile lines —a symptom of aging—caused by defl ation of the cheeks. We use fi ller to replace the volume lost and to soften the cheek and midface area. The new fi ller, Juvederm Voluma, is our fi rst choice for immediate improvement. It does a beautiful job of volumizing and lifting the cheek, lasting up to 2 years. Many patients fi nd that the cheeklift improves the dark circles and hollows below the eyes. Filler placed too low in the cheeks can give a puff y look. Knowing what fi ller, and where to place it, gives optimal results. Jody Comstock, M.D. Tina Pai, M.D. 520.797.8885 6127 N. La Cholla Blvd., Suite 101 skinspectrum.com
