Q Your Skinformation I had filler injected in my face a few years ago. I loved the results, but I bruised so much that I even had to miss a few days of work because of it. I want to have the filler done again, but I am afraid of having all that bruising. There is great news for you -Skin Spectrum now delivers filler into the skin using a very thin tube called a “micro-cannula” instead of a needle. The micro-cannula is not sharp like a needle, so it dramatically reduces the risk of bruising. It also has a safer injection profile and less pain compared to traditional needle injections. We are thrilled to also use a new technique that uses less product in lower risk bruise areas that was developed by our Canadian colleagues. This technique was just presented to a few US practices in August. Blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and ibuprofens increase your chance of bruising, so you should avoid them if possible. I had a facelift two months ago, and the scars are still very red. I’m not able to wear my hair up in a ponytail because the scars are visible and it’s very obvious that I have had the surgery. Is there anything I can do besides try to cover them with makeup? There are a number of helpful scar treatments available. They can’t erase scars completely, but they make them much less noticeable. We usually treat scars with one or more types of lasers to fade the redness, and also to help the texture become more like normal ScarLine Rx skin. Some scars are thick and lumpy Pricing varies by product and require cortisone injections to soften them. We also often recommend treating the scars at home with a product such as ScarLine Rx. Q A A I’m a 45 year-old guy who works out and is in pretty decent shape, but I have developed a little fat roll around my waist. My girlfriend says she doesn’t mind my “love handles”, but they really bug me. I saw an ad for a fat freezing treatment and wonder if it would work for me. It sounds like you would probably be a good candidate for CoolSculpting, the noninvasive procedure that literally freezes fat away. It is an FDA-cleared treatment that uses patented Cryolipolysis™ technology to safely and effectively destroy fat cells, with no surgery or downtime. It is the most popular procedure among our male patients. We have extensive experience with Coolsculpting and are the largest single location in AZ to offer the multisystem and one of the leading centers in the Southwestern U.S. for this procedure. Our results with the stacking technique have maximized the sculpted contour that our patients desire.
