Q A Your Skinformation I am interested in having laser treatment to improve ne lines and large pores on my face. However, I have dark olive skin, and I’ve heard that it is risky for me to have laser. Would you suggest trying it? Darker skin is more susceptible to complications such as blisters and discoloration from some types of lasers. However, some lasers, such as the CoolTouch CT3, are safe to use on dark skin, with no healing time. An e ective alternative to laser is Dermapen, a procedure that improves texture, ne lines, and scars. It is very popular with patients of all skin colors because of its nice results, yet with minimal discomfort and healing time. We often recommend a combination of treatments for best results. Q A I spent the summer in capris and maxi skirts, trying to hide those annoying spider veins on my legs. I’m determined to get rid of them so I can wear shorts and skirts next summer. What is the best treatment? Sclerotherapy and lasers both do an excellent job with leg veins. With sclerotherapy, small injections are done into the veins to shrink them. We also use the new Cutera XLV laser to eliminate spider veins. With either treatment it takes a few months to see results, so it’s a good idea to start your treatment now so that your legs will be ready when the warm weather rolls around. Q A TNS Essential Serum $ 260 My skin has gotten very dry recently, and I’ve had to stop using Retin-A. Is there something milder that I could use instead? Our skincare needs may change with the seasons, but our skin always needs medical grade products to be its healthiest and prettiest. We often recommend TNS Essential Serum, a personal and patient favorite. It is a lightly hydrating product that is packed with rejuvenating ingredients including a patented growth factor formula, seven antioxidants, and skin brightener. It’s suitable for all skin types, and even more appealing because it’s quick and easy to use without irritation or sun sensitivity.
