Beach Pond in Hope Valley. To get there, take Route 165 to Beach Pond. Younger children will also have trouble climbing the rugged terrain. This trail is blazed in blue and quickly begins to climb a hill. You’ll hike up rocks for about a mile, crossing into Connecti-cut. Then you’ll come to the pond’s edge onto a boat landing, and you could turn back (if you’ve had enough). Or you can continue for another six miles, eventually taking the yellow-blazed trail back to Beach Pond. It’s a strenuous eight-mile hike in total, but worth every step.
