FredTech Chairman Hap Con-nors says he’s pleased to recognize those who keep pushing technological boundaries. “The FredTech Awards Dinner gives us an opportunity to showcase the in-novation happening in our region, and to celebrate the entrepreneurs and inno-vators in our businesses and classrooms, who are creating new opportunities and new leaders as we grow our new innova-tion economy,” he said. The Center for Innovative Technol-ogy is serving as the banquet’s Title Sponsor. The event will recognize and honor individuals and organizations for their noteworthy contributions to the com-munity through achievements in entre-preneurship, innovation or application of technology and education. FredTech will present four tech-nology awards this year, its annual scholarship and the Educator of the Year Award. Prior to graduation, the 28 fellows who com-prise the 2012 Class will present the final results of the projects for area non-profit organizations on which they have worked since last fall. The project presentations will take place at 3 p.m., May 10 at Stafford Hospital. “We are very proud of the work our Leadership Fellows have done in the last nine months,” said Chamber President Susan Spears, who also serves as Executive Director for the program. “They have demonstrated great dedication to helping area non-profit organizations achieve their mis-sion of making the Fredericksburg Region a better place to live.” On May 18, the 2012 Class will graduate in a ceremony at University of Mary Washington’s University Hall, located in the North Building of the Stafford campus, beginning at 3 p.m. Deirdre Powell White, an alumnus of the 2010 Class of Leadership Fredericksburg and CEO of DPW Training and Associates, will serve as com-mencement speaker at the graduation ceremony. Ms. White also co-founded the DPW Founda-tion with her husband, David. A reception will follow the graduation exercise. There is no charge to attend.
