The next national president will be the second to hail from Lincolnland

A bout three- dozen Lincolnland Exchangites were among the more than 700 members and guests from across the country that gathered in Detroit to celebrate Exchange’s 100 years of service to the nation.

The highlight of the convention for Lincolnland was the election of Lou Molitor as national president-elect.

When Lou takes the oath of office as National President next July in Chandler, Ariz., he’ll join Harold Warren as the only members of Lincolnland to serve as National President.

Katie Smith, of Owatanna, Minn., was re-elected to a second term as Region 3 vice president.

Lincolnland put up a valiant effort in defending its National Spirit Award, but fell short in both the Spirit and Hospitality Room categories — just more incentive to regain the title next year in Arizona.

During the convention, the Exchange Club of Naperville was recognized as having the National Outstanding Community Service Project and former Link Editor Mike Oster was recognized for the best District Bulletin for districts with more than 799 members.

Oster and Millie Lang were recognized for building the new A.L.L. club in Lincolnland and Lou and Patti Molitor were recognized for building a new club in Kenosha, Wis, for a pretty good showing by Lincolnland!
