The INLA has received a Specialty Crop Grant for a new marketing campaign called ‘Plant Something’. The whole idea is to promote and encourage the production, sale and use of Idaho-grown regionally adapted landscape plant material. It is a very simple message to everyone: “Don’t just stand there, Plant Something !” This marketing program effort is in collaboration with the Arizona Nursery Association’s Plant Something Program, that was funded through a specialty crop grant in 2009-10. The INLA and 3 other nursery associations across the US are piggy-backing on their efforts and launching the program in their states. Products Available to you at no charge: • Educational brochures educating your customers on why they should ‘Plant Something’ • Posters with catchy sayings featured on seed packets telling customers to ‘Plant Something.’ • Colorful Plant tags of different sizes to place around your nursery encouraging customers to ‘Plant Something.’ • Banners to place out front of retail nursery businesses flying the ‘Plant Something’ logo. In conjunction with the materials you can obtain for your businesses, the INLA will update its website and link up with ANA’s Plant-Something.org website enabling customers to search for plants that grow in Idaho. Campaign Ads will be available from this program for you to place ads in your local newspapers and magazines, should you choose to do so. INLA will promote this program in the Taproot, on the website, and at all home and garden shows attended throughout the 2012 growing season. This is one way the INLA is helping the nursery industry in Idaho recover from the hard economic times our country has been having the last few years. By encouraging the public to buy and plant more Idaho-grown plants, it helps to keep Idaho nursery businesses strong. From the plant producers to the retail outlets to the landscape and irrigation contractors, all segments of the industry will benefit from the awareness campaign. When you see these marketing materials arrive on your doorstep, please help distribute them to your customers, put up the poster in your place of business, put up the banners, and get the word out: ‘Don’t just stand there, Plant Something !’ Su orting Our Members to Advance Idaho’s Green Industry INLA . .
