Nationally, Florida will take center stage for the GOP Presidential Preference Primary, as a num-ber of candidates test the waters hoping for enough support to become the Republican Party nominee in the general election. According to a report by Scott Powers of the Orlando Sentinel, “The Florida Republican presidential primary will be a winner-take-all contest for 50 delegates, a bloc that could serve as an early knock-out punch in this win-ter’s primary season, the Republican Party of Florida announced Monday (Oct. 24). “The decision approved by the Republican National Committee, means Florida loses just under half the 99 delegates it would have expected had it obeyed RNC rules and set a primary no earlier than March 6. Last month, state of fi cials set the primary for Jan. 31. Jim and Continued on page 25 BENNETT BUILDINGS 11/11/11/11 Veterans Day at Magnolia Cemetery The Veterans Day ground-breaking cer-emony will honor military service mem-bers, both past and present, at the entrance of Magnolia Cemetery on 1040 Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park at 11am, Novem-ber 11th. The Historical Society of Orange Park is raising funds for the $40,000 me-morial by selling memorial bricks for $50 (pavers inscribed with veterans’ names and service dates) and commemorative pins for $15 each. Carolyn Day designed the me-morial and is Chairperson of the Veterans Memorial Committee, in charge of fund-raising. Day and her granddaughter were volunteers for "Moonlight on Magnolia" at the veterans memorial site.
