DESIGN AWARDS 2008 Show Stopper l GOLD There’s no such thing as a bad seat when the curtain rises in the Johnson & Wales University Xavier Auditorium. Dramatically renovated, the space flaunts an award-winning exterior and a knock-out interior with reconfigured seating and fantastic lighting. A series of stellar panels and screens reflect sound into the audience. As the architects point out, these screens also “expand the proscenium enclosure to embrace the extended stage.” That’s in addition to a full roster of sophisticated new systems that boost the theater’s performance as well. In other words, the space functions as well as it looks.
