Patrick Dollar is the new processing archivist in the Martha Blakeney Hodges Special Collections and University Archives at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Dollar will process collections, work with born-digital materials, and promote access to the collections through outreach and instruction. Dollar earned a master’s degree in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in English from UNCG. Richard Marciano received the 2017 Emmett Leahy Award, which honors a pioneer in the field of records and information management, for his outstanding work in digital records and information management. His development of cyberinfrastructure to support records management has resulted in new methodologies, experimental systems, and analytics, inspiring new ways to understand the past. His work has led to innovative advancements in recordkeeping for the humanities, sciences, and archives. Managing Local Government Archives, co-authored by SAA Fellows John H. Slate, CA (Dallas Municipal Archives) and Kaye Lanning Minchew, CA (retired), is the winner of this year’s ARMA International Christine Zanotti Award for Excellence in Non-Serial Publications. The award recognizes exceptional contributions in literature for the records and information management profession. Among other portions connecting the archives and records management fields, the book contains a chapter specifically aimed at records and information management professionals who are tasked with maintaining permanently valuable records.
