JULI ANNE PATTY is a freelance writer based in Portland, Maine, and is also contributing editor to Sports Destination Management magazine. Before becoming a writer, she spent several years teaching middle and high school English. She still believes passionately in the power of public education, spending many of her out-of-work hours tutoring at nonprofit organizations to help students develop their creative and expository writing skills. Juli is currently completing her first novel while continuing her work as a marketing and public relations copywriter. MARY HELEN SPRECHER has been a technical writer for more than 20 years with the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the national association of designers, builders and suppliers of materials for athletic facilities. Sprecher has written on various topics relating to sports facility design, construction and supply, as well as sports medicine and health issues, and trends in the fitness industry. She is a full-time newspaper reporter in Baltimore, Maryland. The ASBA is located in Ellicott City, Maryland. AMY HENDERSON is the owner of Carolina Arrangements, a destination management company in Charlotte, North Carolina. Amy has been in the sports field for over 20 years, starting as a sportswriter in upstate New York and eventually working in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Bobcats. Amy also spent time in racing with Speedway Motorsports Inc. at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Amy has coordinated all facets of marketing, travel and special events within the sports market with a multitude of corporate partners that include Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch & Gatorade. JENNIFER ALTEN is a Chicago-based writer, marketing consultant and photographer who specializes in working with the business-to-business, technology, manufacturing and medical sectors. She has written articles, white papers, websites and marketing materials for dozens of commercial and not-for-profit organizations ranging in size from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups. BRUCE KNITTLE is the President of Knittle Sports Solutions, Inc., a full service sports consulting firm based in Long Island, New York. Knittle Sports Solutions offers advisory services to sports organizations in all geographic regions. Customized solutions, after personal review, are presented to each client. He is a business affiliate of the American Camping Association, and has over 25 years experience in the sports industry. Previously, Bruce was a successful camp owner, sports coach/instructor, and director of sports programs. In his youth, he was a former highly ranked tennis player, and captain of the Florida State University tennis team. ALLAN JUDAH is the chief operating officer for National Travel Systems, LP, a travel and housing management company that has been involved with various aspects of sports travel for over 15 years. As a former logistics officer in the United States Marine Corps, Allan utilizes the same philosophies and techniques to attack the many challenges of managing logistical aspects of sporting events. Through affiliations with numerous sports organizations utilizing the services of National Travel Systems, Allan has been involved in the logistical coordination of events such as the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships, 2004 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, 2004 and 2008 USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials, 2005 World Badminton Championships and 2007 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl among many others. CHRIS CANNON is Director of Communication at the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau. His responsibilities range from media relations to marketing and publication design. When not promoting Georgia’s Rome as the best destination for meetings and events, he works as a freelance graphic designer and copywriter. He is a recent graduate of Shorter University with a degree in Media and Journalism. ANN HORTMAN is the Sports Marketing and Event Coordinator for the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau. She is a member of the NAIA Football National Championship Game Host Committee, Race Director for Clocktower Classic Handcycle Races and Vice- Chairman of U.S. Handcycle Federation Board of Directors. Additionally, she has organized ancillary events with Tour de Georgia and coordinated numerous large scale tournaments in Georgia’s Rome.
