These can include massages or a day at a spa, hiking in the countryside, a round of golf, an afternoon at the movies, or just doing nothing while you enjoy the serenity of a peaceful atmosphere. The list can go on and on! The best part is that it can all be done without driving too far! There are plenty of destinations within a day’s drive where you can relax, commune with nature, get some exercise, or just be lazy. The point is simply this: take time for yourself this summer. You will be amazed how just a little time for relaxation, away from the stress of your normal work routine, can help you recharge, refresh and renew your outlook on life! Of course, being a chef, I recommend good food and good wine as one of the best ways to spend an evening with family and friends. There is nothing quite like having a stimulating conversation over a meal that you didn’t have to prepare yourself. It is one of those joys in life that is easy to experience with a minimum of effort. Summer is around the corner, and based on the type of weather we’ve been having, it will be here sooner rather than later. That being said, the weather has been perfect for outdoor gatherings, wine with friends, good food in a great atmosphere and accommodations that allow you to relax. Whether just an evening, or a week off from work, summertime is the best time to enjoy a getaway. Now is the time to start planning those types of getaways: whether they are the sights of a place you’ve never visited, enjoying the serenity of the mountains and beach, or planning a “stay-cation” in your very own backyard. Planning a getaway doesn’t have to be stressful. It can be a wonderful evening of dining or an extended stay at your favorite destination. Planning camp for the kids? While the kids are away at camp, you should consider your own getaway.
