Student Organizations Enrich Your College Experience Want to meet new people? Get better connected on campus? Make lifelong friends? Maybe even learn leadership skills? Victoria College student organizations are your ticket to success. SCOPE members volunteer at the Food Bank of the Golden Cresecent. Just like at larger universities, students attending VC can participate in a wide range of student organizations and campus activities. That goes for high school students taking dual credit courses through VC, too. It’s a great way to help them transition into college life. Our student organizations also give back to the community through volunteer work and financial contributions. Some students help build Habitat for Humanity homes. Others work at the food bank or distribute “thank you” baskets to police, fire, and hospital personnel. Student organizations made a huge difference in my personal college experience. They helped me become a better leader and a more well-rounded individual when it came time to find a job. My résumé was filled with leadership roles I had taken on during college that directly impacted the type of job I was seeking. I was also able to meet new people and, as a team, we could help other students who were just starting out get connected—just like others before us had done. The circle of giving continued. Student success isn’t just about what happens in the classroom. Relationships formed and leadership skills developed are important experiences that can be gained by participating in student organizations. Getting involved can be a rewarding experience and can support students through their academic careers.
