Amanda Pellerin joined the Archives and Records Management Department at the Georgia Tech Library as the access archivist, where she will promote the archival holdings through new acquisitions, collection processing, descriptive records, and class instruction. She most recently worked at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Joan Schwartz, SAA Fellow and head of the art history and art conservation department at Queen’s University, Kingston, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. As the leading authority on early photography in Canada and an advocate of its importance to archival collections, Schwartz has pioneered new understandings of photographs as spaces of power and sites of knowledge production. Her research challenges traditional approaches to photographs in historical analysis and provides creative strategies for scholarly engagement with visual images across a range of disciplines. Schwartz has been active in SAA’s Visual Materials Section and is co-editing (with Tom Nesmith and Greg Bak) the forthcoming SAA publication of selected essays by the late Terry Cook. Jessica Venlet is the new assistant university archivist at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library. She will provide training and consultation on records management and the transfer of official records to the University Archives. Previously, Venlet worked at MIT Libraries in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
