PALM BEACH COUNTY JUPITER STING SOCCER CLUB Jupiter Sting U‐18G cham‐ pions go undefeated in Orange Classic Soccer Tournament. The Orange Classic is a major soccer tournament held in Broward County. The Tournament (by invi‐ tation only) consisted of more than 320 teams from all over the country competing in several age divisions. This is a major college recruiting tournament as it was attended by over 250 registered Division I, II, III and NAIA coaches. U11 Girls ‐ Runners up in the Boca Youth Cup! Beaten in a penalty shout out against Parkland Predators. Well done Girls! KICKS SOCCER CLUB The KICKS U16 Black team coached by Jim Sotter, Fernando Miranda, and Eric Arbuzow won the prestigious Tampa Bay Sun Bowl over the holi‐ days. The boys dominated their preliminary bracket winning 6‐0, 5‐1, and 3‐0 before facing a tough North Carolina JSC team in the quar‐ ter finals. After a slow start, the team roared back to ad‐ vance to the semi‐finals against rival West Pines. On very cold morning the teams played to a tie thru full‐time. The KICKS prevailed in PK’s when Goal Keeper Evan Zinger came up big stopping 2 of the 5 shots he faced. Playing their 6th game in 4 days the finals was a test of endur‐ ance. Midway thru the second half, Jeffrey Michaud broke a scoreless tie with a powerful long range quick strike from 30 yards out just under the crossbar. Leonard Jean‐ Jacques made the final 2‐0 when he slotted a shot into the left side netting beating the Bonita Storm Goalie after being set‐up by Paul Hurrell. The KICKS showed tremen‐ dous balance with 9 different players scoring goals in the tournament. KICKS defender Troy Manheimer was named MVP of the Sun Bowl. PALM BEACH UNITED SOCCER CLUB The Palm Beach United U15 Premier girls soccer team ad‐ vanced with a huge win of 6‐3 over Space Coast United! The exciting game featured three amazing headers scored by Kara, Jamie, and Makeshia! The girls have been on a five game winning streak in State Cup. They have all been play‐ ing very strong and have grown so much as a unit this sea‐ son. Each player brings a huge strength to the field. The journey has come with some really big wins in State Cup. They defeated the Tampa Lady Lazers in the first round 3‐1 and have not looked back since. They went over to West Pasco for the challenge round and went undefeated with the highest amount of points coming off of the weekend. The started with a big win over HC United of 2‐1 to start the weekend. The following game they faced a tough Lakeland team that they beat with a score of 3 to 1. The final game of the weekend came against the Island Coast Soccer Alliance from Cape Coral and Brianna came out with a shut out in goalie to help us win 3‐0. This weekend helped the PBU U15 girls go onto the Challege Round of the Sweet 16 in Palm Bay Florida. The best feeling was a huge win against Space Coast to advance them to the Elite 8 on Sunday against a very tough Weston Premier. We wish the girls all the luck in the world. They have all worked so hard this season and we are proud of them no matter what! The girls know that their hard work and sacrifice is paying off for them. ROYAL PALM BEACH STRIKERS SOCCER CLUB The Royal Palm Beach U12 girls travel soccer Strikers team placed second last month at the Club Appreciation Cup in Naples. The tournament was held Memorial Day Weekend. The Strikers defeated teams from North Fort Myers, Island Coast and Bo‐ nita Springs to earn in a berth in the final, where they lost on penalty kicks to Island Coast. Earlier this season, the Strikers won the FAU 5v5 tournament and finished second at the Jupiter Presi‐ dent’s Day Tournament, the Palm Beach Soccer League Tournament and the Palm Beach Cup. Royal Palm Beach competed in the Florida United Girls Soccer Association and Region A Cup. ‘Soccer In Your Area’ E‐Magazine ‐ February 2010 9.
