DADE COUNTY MIRAMAR STRIKERS SOCCER CLUB The Miramar Strikers are very proud of the coaches, par‐ ents, and especially the children who make up our travel teams. While we are hoping to use this forum to explain how travel soccer with the Miramar Strikers works, we strongly encourage you to talk to friends and neighbors about their experiences with travel soccer, while recog‐ nizing that each team has a unique character in how it presents the travel soccer experience. Tournaments comprise a large part of the travel soccer experience, and the children love them. Tournament weekends generally mean a team will definitely play two games on Saturday and at least one on Sunday, with the possibility of more games if the team reaches the semi‐ finals or finals. Most teams play two or three tourna‐ ments per season. These often take place in the ‘pre‐ season’ and 'post‐season' (September and Febuary), but may be held on Labor Day, Columbus Day, or Memorial Day weekends, and sometimes on the weekend following the last weekend of league play. Most Miramar Strikers teams play tournaments locally. Local clubs, for example Weston, host tournaments every year. Miramar Strikers teams are expected to play a tournament in September to Kick‐Off the start of the travel season. 18. ‘Soccer In Your Area’ E‐Magazine ‐ February 2010 Bu12 Orange played hard through the Naples Tour‐ nament’s freezing weather to play against Weston in the final.
