Talk about a great start! This year is slated to be our best year ever. We kicked off 2016 with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Atlanta Region's Plan Breakfast on January 29. Attendees heard presentations from Jane Hayse, Cain Williamson and Scott Haggard about the long- range transportation plan to ensure the future success and improved quality of life for the Atlanta region over the next 25 years. On February 10, WTS Atlanta held a “meet and greet” reception for the WTS International Board of Directors and the WTS Foundation Board in Midtown Atlanta as they concluded their quarterly board meetings. Approximately 70 WTS Atlanta members and corporate partners mingled with the top leadership of WTS International to exchange ideas and hear about WTS’ agenda. Thank you to every member and corporate partner who was able to attend. On February 23, we held the first of four professional development workshops entitled “The Art and Science of Communications.” Pam Scott of MentorLoft.com presented to nearly 40 attendees on the communications process and active listening. A total of four workshops will be scheduled throughout the year that focus on understanding yourself, key consulting techniques and managing expectations. The other three sessions will be held in May, August and November. Again, 2016 is full of exciting programs and community involvement. WTS Atlanta will also kick-off its community outreach committee activities with a Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build in the fall. And, our Mentor Protege Program, which is designed to assist with the development of mentor-protege relationships that will serve as a means of career development, has been reignited. Also, save the date for WTS Atlanta’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon, which will be held on October 27 at the Georgia Aquarium. As a reminder, our annual corporate sponsorship campaign is in full effect! If your company or agency is interested in supporting the efforts of WTS Atlanta, please contact Michelle Erste at firstname.lastname@example.org. Finally, if you are a woman or man working in the transportation field in the Atlanta metro area, join WTS Atlanta! Visit us at www.wtsinternational.org/atlanta to learn more.
