FT LAUDERDALE SELECT SOCCER CLUB DELIGHT WITH PROGRESS We just completed the Thanksgiving Tournament where we saw considerable improvement in the play of all our teams. The boy's team, which was "playing up" as a U‐10 team despite being mostly eight year olds, made a big leap form the previous tournament and scored several goals against much older kids. This weekend they enter league play where they'll be at a considerable advantage having battled more experienced compe‐ tition.. The U‐10 girls also had a strong tournament with two ties and a loss. They tied a team that they lost to 2‐0 in their first tournament, and were a couple goals from going to the tournament finals. In both of their ties they outplayed their opponents but couldn't find the back of the net to advance. The U‐9 girls won the tournaments U‐9A division in heart‐stopping fashion in an eight penalty kick over‐ time victory against Wellington which is one of the best teams in South Florida. Six of the eight girls hit their penalty kicks with the two misses hitting the crossbar and just missing the upper right post. It was an impressive display of skill from an eight year old team. Abby Pangalla was terrific in goal with two criti‐ cal saves. Caleb, showed a lot of speed and some nice shots for goals. Jose was constantly passing or shooting for goal with precision and determination. Arnaldo played with con‐ fidence and like all the kids, he was always on the run and mak‐ ing good passes. At the end, the team won 6‐0 against Ives Es‐ tates of Milan for a confidence boosting season opening game. Congrats to the U9 team.
