A ne w s le tter publ ished b y Catholic Char ities of the D i ocese of Greensburg Spring 2015 2015 Communities of Salt and Light Award Winners The St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Joseph Church, New Kensington will be honored with the Outstanding Human Ser-vice Organization Award. This dedicated group of individuals responds to the call of those in need with the firm belief that every-one deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Nicholas Kolb of Indiana and member of St. Thomas More University Parish will accept the 2015 Communities of Salt and Light Award for Humanitarianism on Thurs-day, April 23, 2015 at Stratigos Banquet Centre in North Huntingdon. Mr. Kolb is profoundly involved in the mission to serve others. He was instrumen-tal in the development of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Indiana and has contin-ued to serve as president of the Board of Di-rectors as well as a “day manager” at the store. Through his vision, leadership, and call to action, the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store has been instrumental in changing the lives of those less fortunate. Charles Fischer of Scottdale will receive the evening’s award for Philanthropy. Mr. Fischer, a retired school teacher has given generously to various works of charity as well as educational endowments. As a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Scottdale, Mr. Fischer has supported both the parish and former school. Mr. Fischer is blessed to use his good fortune as a means of helping others.
