Hires, Promotions, Honors & Transactions EMC ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. announced the promotion of Christopher E. Brazell, P.E., LSIT to Senior Principal Owner. Originally from Vidalia, Georgia, Brazell relocated in 2006 to take leadership of the firm’s Columbus branch. In 2011, he became the firm’s youngest Principal Owner and currently serves as a member of the EMC Engineering Services Board of Directors and Executive Council. Brazell is a Licensed Professional Engineer in eleven states and is a Licensed Land Surveyor in Training in Georgia, where he is in the process of obtaining dual registration. FULTON COUNTY Manager Dick Anderson has named Todd Long, the former Deputy Commissioner for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the county’s Chief Operating Officer. Long was appointed the agency’s first Director of Planning in 2009 before serving as Deputy Commissioner and brings more than 25 years of experience in transportation planning, engineering and administration to the new role, which he’ll assume October 1. In his place, Mike Dover, P.E. has been appointed the role of Deputy Commissioner for GDOT. HUSSEY GAY BELL expanded its Transportation division with the hire of Clint V. Parker, P.E., PMP as a Senior Transportation Engineer for the firm’s Atlanta office. Parker will be responsible for overall engineering design, cost estimating and permitting for transportation and highway-related pursuits, project management, business development and client relationship management. GWINNETT COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (Gwinnett DOT) will now be led by Alan Chapman, P.E. Chapman, a Gwinnett DOT employee for nearly two decades, has been acting Director since October 2014. He holds a Master’s degree from Georgia State University and Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. HESM&A CONSULTING ENGINEERS merged with national facilities planning and design firm, Salas O’Brien. HESM&A will now be known as HESM&A Salas O’Brien. Collectively, the firms have more than 230 employees and over 60 Professional Engineers serving clients from across its 13 nationwide offices. MCGEE PARTNERS announced the addition of Kimberly Tyson, P.E. to its Buford location. Tyson brings with her 15 years of experience in transportation design and stormwater management. The move reunites Tyson with former co-workers from her days as a coop in the industry. METRO PLANNING & ENGINEERING, a division of VHB, welcomed Transportation Planner Olen Daelhousen to its team. Daelhousen has more than 15 years of experience focusing on transportation planning for transit feasibility and operations planning, with clients such as GDOT and MARTA. MOFFATT & NICHOL hired Darren J. Wilton, P.E. as a Roadway Transportation Engineer. Wilton will be based out of Moffatt & Nichol’s Atlanta office, one of nearly 30 locations throughout the world. NOVA ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL added three new employees to its Kennesaw location: Brian Schiessle, P.E. joined the firm’s Geotechnical group as a Project Engineer; Christian Pedersen as a Staff Professional in the Construction Materials Testing division; and Jacob Terrell as a Corporate Recruiter. In addition, Tooie Hales, P.E. was hired as the Business Unit Manager for NOVA’s brand new, Raleigh, North Carolina office. POND AND COMPANY announced the promotions of Lorraine Green, P.E. to Senior Vice President; Mike Magahey, P.E. to Vice President of the firm’s Defense Program; and Kris Allegood, P.E. as Vice President of Aviation Fueling Services. STEVENSON & PALMER ENGINEERING, INC.’s James C. Vaughn, Jr., P.E., Vice President and Regional Manager for the firm’s Savannah office, was named the American Public Works Association (APWA) – Georgia Chapter 2015 Consultant of the Year. This Award is designed to honor professionals with documented success in the field of public works, including projects related to building and grounds, roads and highways, solid waste, wastewater/water and stormwater. The selection of James C. Vaughn, Jr. recognizes his more than 30 years of service and experience in environmental engineering design and project management. Vaughn is a registered Professional Engineer in four states, and has authored numerous papers on wastewater treatment and bioremediation. TERRACON CONSULTANTS, INC. announced the addition of Richard Mockridge, P.E. as a Senior Geotechnical Consultant for the firm. With more than 37 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, Mockridge will review geotechnical projects, as well as implement client and business development strategies, for the firm. THOMAS & HUTTON welcomed three new hires to its Savannah office: Jonathan Melton as a Civil Designer; Catherine Carella as a Civil Designer I; and Matthew Frazier as a Designer with the firm’s Environmental Department. Melton holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from Georgia Southern University, most recently in Civil Engineering. Carella received her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Florida State University and a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from the University of Colarado-Boulder. Frazier joins the firm with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. TOWN CENTER AREA COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (TCACID) added Tyler Pelfrey to its team. Serving as the CID’s Outreach and Communications Manager, Pelfrey is responsible for a mix of communications, marketing and outreach needs for the TCACID and newly formed Town Center Community Alliance.
