Stroll this famous green space and explore national treasures along the way. LINCOLN MEMORIAL Enjoy iconic views from the tall steps. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are recent high-profile visitors to this world-famous memorial. EINSTEIN MEMORIAL A hidden gem near the National Mall, the Einstein Memorial is located in the southwest corner of the National Academy of Sciences building. Admire Einstein’s likeness as well as the celestial map found at the base of the 12-foot-tall, four-ton bronze statue. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. MEMORIAL Dr. King’s lasting contributions to the Civil Rights Movement are immortalized at this memorial. Free ranger tours are regularly scheduled throughout the day. WASHINGTON MONUMENT At a height of 555 feet, it's the tallest building in DC. For a true bird’s-eye view, take the elevator to the top for free (or for a small fee by ordering in advance online). SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION BUILDING Visit "The Castle" and get visitor info, see historic artifacts, take a snack break in the Castle Cafe, use the free Wi-Fi or pay homage to James Smithson (founder of the Smithsonian Institution) by visiting his crypt in The Castle’s north entrance. NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART One of the world’s most revered museums, the NGA turns 75 in 2016. Landmark exhibitions will run throughout the year, and you can make an appointment in the Study Room on weekdays to interact with thousands of works, from Rothko sketches to rare photos.
