Welcome to the inaugural issue of ENGINEERING GEORGIA! When we (ACEC Georgia, ASCE, ASHE, GEF, GSPE, ITE, ITS, SAME, SEAOG, and WTS) began the process of creating a brand new magazine to better represent Georgia’s engineering industry, we had one goal in mind: raise the profile of Georgia’s engineers and engineering companies with the people who hire engineers and influence our industry. Make no mistake – we still intend to provide the same engineer generated and engineer-focused content that our associations have previously contributed to other publications. But we are most excited about the possibilities that come when we combine that type of content with new types of features and articles that will actually get Georgia’s movers and shakers outside the industry to read Engineering Georgia, and learn more about our profession and its contributions to our state. I hope you will agree that this first issue is a big step in that direction, but I also hope that you too will get excited about the possibilities of Engineering Georgia and think of it as YOUR magazine. One of the virtues of the engineering community having its own magazine is that it can be whatever we want it to be. As we build this magazine together, we want your input on how it can be used as a platform to raise the profile of the engineering industry in Georgia, influence decision makers, or better position you or your company in the marketplace. If you have ideas for articles we should consider or how to improve the magazine, please share them with me by calling my cell (770.356.3769) or shooting me an email (email@example.com). Engineering Georgia can be a powerful new tool for achieving the goals of our industry and I hope that you will join us in helping make it the best it can be. Remember, it’s YOUR magazine and on behalf of all of the folks who put so much work into making this first issue, we hope you enjoy it.
