Recent News on SportsDestinations.com Corpus Christi to Host 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships The Corpus Christi Yacht Club and the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce that the 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships was awarded to the United States and will be hosted by Corpus Christi Yacht Club in Corpus Christi, Texas. The 2018 ISAF World Youth Sailing Championships is the largest youth sailing event for Olympic hopefuls. More than 375 youth sailors, ages 15 to 19, from around the world will compete in nine Olympic training events. The event will take place over eight days in July of 2018. Big 10 Tournament Headed for Chicago Chicago, Illinois, will host the 2015 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament. Events will be held March 11-15 at the United Center.The Chicago Sports Commission has noted that it is planning not just for the tournament but for ancillary events, with the Big Ten Conference and dedicated Big Ten Host Committee. OKC Leaders Break Ground on Whitewater Rafting, Kayak Center Oklahoma City leaders broke ground on an 11-acre whitewater rafting and kayaking center that will continue the development of the Oklahoma River into a recreation landmark for residents and visitors. The $45.6 million project, which is named Riversport Rapids, OKC Whitewater Rafting and Kayaking Center, is being constructed debt free as a part of MAPS 3. Geared for both family fun and elite athlete training, Riversport Rapids will offer whitewater rapid courses, a pro shop, a restaurant and public viewing areas. It is being built near the SandRidge Sky Trail and Slide in the Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River. Grand Rapids Triathlon to Host Triathlon Championship Events USA Triathlon has announced the Grand Rapids Triathlon, presented by Huntington Bank and Amway Corporation, has been chosen to host the 2015 Clydesdale and Athena National Championships for the Sprint, Olympic and Long-Course distances. This comes after an in-depth study by the USAT of thousands of top triathlons across the country. Due to an outstanding review by the athletes and USAT organizers that participated in this event, the USAT has chosen to once again go to Grand Rapids to crown top athletes.
