Recent News on SportsDestinations.com USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals Heads to Clemson, SC, for 2015-16 USA Triathlon has announced that the 2015 and 2016 USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships will be held in Clemson, SC, the home of Clemson University. The 2015 event is scheduled for April 24-25, and more than 120 collegiate clubs from across the United States are expected to compete in three events over two days of competition on the Clemson University campus. This qualification- only race showcases the same style of racing contested in the Olympic Games on a 750- meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, 5-kilometer run course. NASCAR Set to Return to Gateway Motorsports Park Gateway Motorsports Park has announced the Drivin’ for Line- men 200 event will return in June of 2015. “Our 2014 event marked the historical return of NASCAR to St. Louis, and the event was one that will be talked about for many years to come,” said Gateway Motorsports Park owner and President Curtis Francois. “Motorsports fans from more than 27 states traveled to the region to see some of the best professional racing in the world.” The Drivin’ for Linemen 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will again be held under the lights in primetime at the 1. 25-mile NASCAR Speedway located just four miles from the historic St. Louis Gateway Arch. USBC to Host Queens, Senior Queens in Green Bay in 2015 The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) announced that its Queens and Senior Queens 2015 events would be conducted in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in May. The Queens will advance 64 players to the double-elimination match-play bracket, while the Senior Queens will have a 32- player bracket. Both events will take place May 13-19 at Ashwaubenon Bowl. Cambridge, MA, Expects to Build Skate Park According to an article in The Boston Globe, a proposed skate park in Cambridge, MA, is closer to becoming a reality. While the proposed park had many advantages including a ready-made public and a great location, it was hampered by a $3 million development cost and reticent state recreation officials. However, the recent announcement of a $1.5 million gift from Vans, the action sports apparel retailer, helps to solve the funding issue. Now the state Department of Transportation, which controls the reclaimed industrial land, needs to complete the land transfer to the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which will maintain the skate park. Federal highway officials also must approve the transfer. If all goes according to plan, the Lynch Family Skatepark — named for the family of financial services guru Peter Lynch — should break ground in the fall.
