OSMAA Summer Meeting The Oklahoma State Medical Association Alliance (OSMAA) 2014 Summer meeting was held at the OSMA headquarters on July 9th. Summer is a busy time with some members away on vacation, but those between vacations were able to attend. The State Alliance membership is down from last year. We will be contacting County Presidents and follow up with members who have not renewed their membership. Please join the OSMAA facebook to receive regular updates on legislative affairs and the social buzz. Lisa spoke of the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) which will be on the table in the Fall. Please follow development on this and contact legislators to ensure they understand the intricacies of the program – don’t be idle and act. OSMAA discussed partnering with two health programs: 1. “Pills are NOT a Party!” It is a program with a DVD and follow-up activities, produced by Green County Medical Alliance in Missouri with a grant from the AMA Foundation. 2. “Girls on the Run” is a program based on physical activity, together with social and psychological lessons, to help navigate life experiences. The Health Education Foundation (HEF) has selected an OU Medical Student to receive a $2,000 scholarship. This will be paid to the university for the recipient. Monies were collected at the Annual Meeting from a raffle and Lisa Porter asked for donations to HEF in her honor instead of receiving a President’s gift. A Retreat is planned for August 25th at the Strebel Creek Vineyard for OSMAA board members and all county board members.
