Recent News on SportsDestinations.com Event News: UTAH TO HOST 2019 ISF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, in partnership with the Olympic community of Park City and State of Utah, has been awarded the International Ski Federation’s 2019 World Championships for freestyle, freeskiing and snowboarding. The innovative bid featured a partnership of three resorts – Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort – for an event that is expected to attract the very best skiers and snowboarders in the world for a minimum of 12 competitions over 10 days in February, 2019. LARGEST SYNCHRO EVENT EVER COMING TO WASHINGTON STATE More than 1,000 athletes from across the country will compete in the largest synchronized swimming event in the world when the 2014 eSynchro Age Group Championships begin June 26 in Federal Way, WA. Competitors ranging in age from 11 to 19 will compete June 26-July 5 for titles in solo, duet, trio and team events, with some hoping to use this meet as a vehicle for selection to national and college teams. The Pacific Northwest Association of Synchronized Swimming is Hosting the event at Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center. 2015 USBC QUEENS SHIFTS TO MAY, GREEN BAY, WITH LIVE ESPN2 FINALS The 2015 United States Bowling Congress Queens presented by Storm will shift dates to May next year with the finals being broadcast live on ESPN2. The Queens will take place at Ashwaubenon Bowl in Green Bay, WI, starting May 13 and concluding with the nationally televised finals at 8 p.m. Eastern on May 19. The USBC Senior Queens will also take place during the same Timeframe. Both events were previously scheduled for late summer in 2015. New Summer Phenomenon: SAND SOCCER Sand soccer has been showing up across the United States this summer. On August 2, the Soccer in the Sand Nationwide Series will take place in Presque Isle State Park, according to the Erie Sports Commission of Erie, PA. In June, 2014, sand soccer events were held in Virginia Beach (the McDonald’s North American Sand Soccer Championships) and at West Haven Beach in West Haven, Connecticut (2014 Soccer Resort New England Beach Blitz). In addition, the 12th Annual Cape Express Beach Blast was held in New Jersey, with a second tournament scheduled for July. The rise of sand soccer follows a trend of other beach sports including beach volleyball, beach lacrosse and beach tennis. FORT WAYNE ATTRACTS ROLLER HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS Fort Wayne, IN, has been selected to host the 2014 State Wars United States Roller Hockey Championships from July 30-August 10, 2014, at the Lutheran Health Ice Sports Center. The 12-day State Wars championship will bring in close to 300 teams from 28 states with over 10,000 participants, generating an estimated 7,000 room nights and $1.6-$2 million in spending. State Wars had previously been held in Cincinnati, St. Louis and Chicago. USACA MOVES NATIONAL TOURNAMENT TO BROWARD COUNTY, FL The USA Cricket Association has moved its 2014 National Tournament to the purpose-built cricket stadium in Broward County, FL. The Broward County stadium has international quality practice and changing facilities for players, is custom built for broadcasters and for spectators, with full stadium seating. The tournament will be held from August 14- August. Because more grounds are available, USACA is can hold the tournament over a shorter time period, saving time and funds for players and families. Preparations are already underway for the USA team to play in the Pepsi World Cricket League Division Three later this year.
