School Board Chair Carol Studdard and Janice Kerekes, District 1 School Board Member presented the $15,000 check to Jeff Camarda, Chair of the JA of Clay County Board of Directors. The School Board allocation will fund the Junior Achievement program materials for the 2013-2014 school year. ‘American Pride Fourth of July’ WILL Occur as planned at Moosehaven Moosehaven retirement community WILL host its “American Pride Fourth of July” event on its 75-acre Orange Park campus, as originally planned, on July 4. The public is invited to the campus on U.S. Route 17, free of charge, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., and then again from 8:30 p.m. through to the conclusion of the Independence Day Fireworks show, which begins at roughly 9:15 p.m. Throughout the day and evening, there will be local entertainers performing, arts-and-crafts vendors, a large children’s play area and a food court. From 3 p.m. through 8:30 p.m., an admission of $5 will be charged to guests age 13 and older, to defray the costs of bringing to the campus nationally prominent platinum country recording artist Jerrod Niemann—whose concert begins at 7 p.m. Moosehaven Executive Director John Capes noted that tickets for Niemann’s concerts are generally in the $60-$80 range. “There is, of course, a significant cost of bringing an artist of Jerrod Niemann’s stature to our community,” Continued on page 5 CCSO Detective Matt Hanlin Clay County is proud to announce that one of their own has been chosen as he National Sheriff’s Association Deputy of the Year . This is a first for Clay County. CCSO Detective Matt Hanlin will be presented the award in June at the NSA's national conference in Charlotte. Sheriff Beseler submitted the nomination in December and Hanlin will be recognized at the NSA’s National Conference in June in Charlotte, NC.
