JULI ANNE PATTY has written for Sports Destination Management since the magazine’s creation, working with sports event owners and CVBs all across North America. JENNY WIERSCHEM has nearly 15 years of experience as a writer and editor, working across subject areas, including health and education. PETER FRANCESCONI has been in publishing for more than 25 years, working with newspapers, a wire service and magazines. He is the editor of Racquet Sports Industry, the world’s largest tennis trade publication, and through his company, Ace Media Group, he works closely with the Tennis Industry Association and other groups in communications, marketing and public relations. He was managing editor of Tennis Magazine from 1990 to 1999 and editorial director of Tennis’s custom publishing division from 1999 to 2009. For nearly 25 years, MIKE MAY has been a leading spokesman in the sports industry in the U.S. with the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. He has covered issues as varied as national trends in sports participation, the emergence of sports like lacrosse, rugby and Ultimate Frisbee and global interest in sports licensed products. His experiences include lobbying on Capitol Hill for support of more P.E. in schools, defending the safety of non-wood baseball bats and making television appearances regarding the sports industry. ALISHA CAMPBELL is tournament director for the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), which is based in Austin, Texas. She has a decade of experience in the event management field and has acted as a skating official for two years for the Brewcity Bruisers (one of WFTDA’s member leagues) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. AMMON, JR., EDD graduated with an EdD in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and his areas of research include legal liabilities in sport, recreation and physical education, risk management in sport and athletics, and premises liability. Currently, he is an associate professor and the Sport Management Program coordinator at the University of South Dakota. She works at Stringfellow Management Group in Bel Air, Maryland, where she is director of meetings and member services for four trade and professional associations, and executive director of a fifth. She worked as sales manager for the Hyatt Regency Baltimore, and in group sales for the Sheraton Baltimore North, and was a senior meeting planner for Travel Destinations Management Group. He previously served as the organization’s director of national games, and prior to that, was executive director of the Alabama Sports Festival. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Logistics from Penn State, and his MSS in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.
