The church is attempting to obtain a $25,200 grant from the Florida Division of Historical Resources to help in its preservation efforts. The church is located on St. Johns Ave. on the west and St. Johns River to the east. At the June 19 regular meeting, the Green Cove Springs City Council adopted a resolution in support of their efforts. Mayor Pam Lewis encouraged community members to help in its efforts by writing letters of support for the grant application packet that was delivered on June 29 by local businesswoman and church member Pat Garlinghouse. It opened briefl y at Clay High School in Green Cove Springs on State Road 16. The PFS, along with a general population shelter, was set up and operational within one hour. School District personnel organized and opened the general population shelter, while simultaneously the Board of County Commissioners Animal Control Department organized and opened the PFS…dubbed, “Operation Noah’s Ark”. The R/W Club raised over $500 in awards from participating in various runs throughout Clay County. They ran and walked “enough miles to go from Jacksonville to the west coast of California” and “surpassed all other year end totals from previous Run/Walk Clubs” said Coach Frost.
