Warner Because of the IB Program Ridgeview High doesn’t have a Valedictorian or Salutatorian but the 2 students listed have perfect 5.0 GPA’s. Cassidy Ann Laird and Hunter Scott Monaghan Congratulations go out to the 24 athletes that competed at the 2012 Special Olympic Summer Games at Disney’s ESPN Wild World of Sports Complex. Athletes competed in Athletics, Bocce, Cycling and Volleyball. Clay County had 1 Double Gold Medalist, Darion Watson, he competed in the 100m Run and the Shot Put. There were several athletes that brought home a Gold and Silver Medal: Morgan Jones, Cole Simmons, Allie Johnson, Daniel Dygert. Brielle Dixon, Lexy Travis, Marlon Reyes-Lopez, Sherilyn Walker, Michael Sneed, Kame-Ron Wooden, and Noah Kite all brought home at least 1 medal. Justin Senna also competed in Athletics. The track team unveiled new uniforms at the 2012 games. Representing Clay County in bocce was Sydney Adams and McKenzy Wilkey both athletes got silver medals. 4 cyclists competed this weekend and brought home several medals and they were Jimmy Stewart, Allen Scarborough, Chuck Brown, and Carl Johns. The Unifi ed Volleyball team, Crush, made Special Olympics Clay County history by getting the fi rst gold medal in a team sport. Members of the team include Alexio Bautista, Christian Eaton, Michael Speer, Kaitlyn Davidson, Derek Freitag, Ray Williams, Nicole Stanley, and Katarina Zeigler. The troop donated a portion of their cookie money and was able to purchase 92 pounds of food to help feed the needy in Clay County.
